Fax security planning

When deploying Fax, an understanding of Fax's security settings will help you to better configure, manage, and share your fax resources.

Following installation of the Fax component, the Fax Service runs under the NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService account.

The following Fax folders are created to provide full access to the NetworkService and Administrator accounts only:

• Fax queue folder
• Inbox archive folder
• Sent Items archive folder
• Activity log folder
• Fax session logs

Following setup, all Fax registry keys provide full access to the Administrator account. The NetworkService account has limited access to Fax registry keys.
